Cycling through the heart of Georgia
The local people go up to the highest mountain villages of Tusheti for the summer to herd sheep and cattle. In October they move back to the lower villages, because the upper roads will become impassable. Only a few families will remain in the mountains during the winter. In this pattern they have lived for two thousand years. Tusheti is separated from the Kakheti wine region by an almost inaccessible 3000m wide gorge - it is possible to get t. . . Keep reading >

Pemba Island: Hobby Made into Way of Life
Cindy (34) and Russell (41) Campbell are  a couple of diving enthusiasts from the Republic of South Africa. I met them at the end of February in the diving centre of Fundu Lagoon located on the island of Pemba. A few years ago this couple decided to take a turn in their lives and move to the island that you can reach only after an extremely long and exhausting walk. It is not an easy place to go to but it is also a place that you do not want to . . . Keep reading >

Hungry but happy in Caucasus Mountains – the cycling tour in Armenia. Part 2
Top 10 ugliest towns or villages in Europe? In my personal opinion Berd is the ugliest small town in Europe. However, it has its certain charm in its ugliness and remoteness. Reddish tuff houses, laid-back and friendly atmosphere … Hotel Berd has 2 “international standard” rooms. We’ll take them! One for the ladies, one for men. We are such an important sight that the hotel owner himself turns out to greet us. He is a very polite man. H. . . Keep reading >

Hungry but happy in Caucasus Mountains – the cycling tour in Armenia. Part 1
We are greeted by our driver (shafyor - chauffeur) Gagik and by Albert Soloyan, the coach of Armenian cycling team. We had arranged our bike rental with Albert as we did not bother to take our own bikes from home. Albert, a man in his sixies, was certainly a man of great respect. He new personally all the old soviet-time famous cyclists that came to my mind while chatting with him. He was not only the coach of Armenian cycling team but had bee. . . Keep reading >

Preparing for the year 2011 cycling trips in Asia. SriLanka
Sri Lanka. Kathmandu Airport with all the exit procedures was pretty peculiar. Quite a number of times I would’ve wanted to say out loud: “What do you mean – show the content of my bag? Again???”. The departure of my flight was delayed for 1 hour. It left me only 30 minutes in Delhi to make it to my flight to Colombo.  It seemed relatively unrealistic. Luckily in Delhi it turned out, that the flight to Colombo was also delayed for 2 hou. . . Keep reading >

How will You remember the Kilimanjaro?
I have climbed this mountain several times, and seeing how few women are trying to make it to the top, I decided to organise a climbing trip for women only. I had previously met Grace Msafiri, who is behind the initiative that led to the creation of a school for Tanzanian children who have lost their parents and would otherwise be deprived of an education. This meeting gave me the idea to initiate the Ladies Trekking project, which we have alread. . . Keep reading >

Preparing for the year 2011 cycling trips in Asia. Nepal
Kathmandu, Nepal. The plane landed around 16:00. At the airport there was a complete mess—a herd of Nepali people gorged at the luggage belt and it took a long time before I received my bag. I met the representative of the Kathmandu Guest House in front of the Airport. My luggage was thrown into a small bus originating from 1970’s. The ride to the hotel was quite emotional for me. The traffic was chaotic and although fume and exhaust mixed w. . . Keep reading >

“Hunting” for Thresher Sharks
So there I was, sitting in the Internet, browsing through different dive centers websites when suddenly something got my attention. Thresher sharks. To be quite honest, at first I thought that I had never heard of this shark before. But when I found a photo of the shark it I knew it at once. Only I had heard a different name for it - Fox shark. What more did I find out was that Malapascua, a tiny island just north from Cebu island, is the only. . . Keep reading >

Preparing for the year 2011 cycling trips in Asia. China
I visited the outermost target countries in Asia. My first destination was China. I managed to stay in Beijing for five days. It was quite interesting to be surrounded by completely different national as well as corporate culture. As for planning the route, we thought that coming from Europe it's more convenient and affordable to fly to Beijing and thus cycle in the nothern part of the country. After visiting the city of Guilin, I chose to del. . . Keep reading >

Warm and welcoming Namibia– best remedy for autumn fatigue
Keep in mind that whereas it is autumn in Northern Hemisphere and in Europe, it is the spring and approaching summertime in Namibia, so the days will be sunny, the temperature from 27 to 40 C, perhaps a bit cooler at the coast, around 25 to 30 C; naturally, cloudy days may happen, especially this year. Another thing to be prepared for – at the coast the temperatures drop rapidly at the sunset, so it would be wise to pack a set of warm clothes a. . . Keep reading >
